Question by Mr. K: Is it necessary to have your home HVAC ducts cleaned professionally? My hunch is that it’s a modern ripoff.
I have a feeling that this is a new cottage industry for people who want to own their own business. Many people have had forced hot air heating for the last 50 years, but I haven’t seen duct cleaning advertised until about 3 years ago. Now they’re everywhere. I love how they scare you with the pictures of dust mites.

If you want to keep mold and dust out of your house get them cleaned.
